Safety Day  is Saturday, October 2, 2010

During the fall of every year the Pleasantview Fire Protection District sponsors a safety day to educate the public about fire safety. On Safety Day you will be able to experience many interactive experiences about fire safety and about firefighter training.

 Some of the experiences are:

The Safety Trailer, come experience what happens if a fire would break out in your house? The trailer is setup just like your home with a kitchen, living room and a bedroom. The trailer will be filled with smoke and you must escape safely.

The Combat Challenge is the same physical challenge seen on ESPN that firefighters all over the nation and the world take to demonstrate their ability to fight fires. We have down-scaled this challenge for children. Come see if you are ready to meet the challenge.

Side by Side Burn, come see what a real fire looks like. In this demonstration two rooms are set side by side and set on fire. One room has a fire sprinkler and the other does not. See how the fire sprinklers save the one room while fire burns through the other. At the end, the firefighters will use their skills to extinguish the fire.

Fire Engine Rides, come ride on a real fire engine. See what it's like to take a ride on one of our fire engines. This is a favorite for all ages.

The Fire Pole, answer the call as you slide down the fire pole to answer the call for help. Kids get a chance to slide down a fire pole just like the one in firehouses all across the country.

Be a Hero, come and be a real hero and give blood. During Safety Day, if you are over 18 years old you can be a hero and donate blood at our annual blood drive.

The Sprinkler Trailer, see how residential sprinklers can save your family. Also, see what other products are available for home fire safety.
