Pleasantview FireProtection District, an ISO Class 3 Department. Serving our communities since 1946

We had our 55th fire sprinkler save at 2:13 PM on October 16, 2009 in a roofing apprenticeship training building. An overheated tar kettle started on fire under the building's overhang.  The sprinkler system activated and kept the fire contained to the kettle. The building was not damaged thanks to the sprinkler system and nobody was injured.

Ensuring safe buildings plays an important role in saving life and property.  The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts, oversees, or provides the following services:

  • Review drawing plans for new construction and remodeling projects for proper fire code and life safety concerns.
  • Meet with contractors and other municipal departments to review utility requirements, emergency vehicle access, and fire protection systems.
  • Inspect existing buildings for life safety and fire hazards (Major violations are re-inspected for correction and compliance to codes).
  • Test new suppression and detection systems
  • Witness proper installation and removal of underground tanks.
  • Investigate fires to determine origin and cause (refer to Juvenile Fire Setter assistance if applicable).
  • Maintain records of all inspections and investigations.

Our Sprinkler Tree documents commercial buildings that were
